William & Lily Foundation Needs Assessment
2020
Collaboration
William & Lily Foundation
OVERVIEW
The Development CAFE was contracted by the William & Lily Foundation to conduct an initial needs assessment in southwest Sumba amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The main goal of the assessment was to find out what women and female heads of households in the region face in terms of being able to participate in the economy. Through this assessment, the Development CAFE provided valuable insights into the challenges faced by women in the region, including limited access to resources and markets as well as the impact of the pandemic on economic opportunities. The results were shared with the most important people in the region and used to create targeted interventions and programs to help women become more financially independent. This project shows how important the Development CAFE is in helping organizations like the William & Lily Foundation do needs assessments and come up with solutions to development problems that are backed up by evidence. By using their skills in monitoring, evaluating, and learning, the Development CAFE helps to make sure that development efforts are effective, efficient, and meet the needs of local communities.
